SCANDAL Pace (News): Will Kerry Washington’s X factor earn an Oscar nod this season?

November 24, 2012 — Film contributor, Joey Magidson of ScottFeinber.com recently posted an article on this season’s possible Oscar nominees, highlighting the crossover between television and big-screen actors and actresses. Will ‘Scandal’s Kerry Washington receive a nod at this year’s Academy Awards? Magidson had this to say about the Best Supporting Actress category:

The supporting ladies of 2012 have their share of former TV stars as well. Helen Hunt notably made the transition from owning the small screen on Mad About You to owning the big one with an Oscar win for As Good As It Gets, something that could repeat itself here for The Sessions.

Sally Field has won two Oscars already and seeks a third one for Lincoln, but she’s recently been spotted returning to TV with Brothers & Sisters. Another winner with multiple ties to TV happens to be Melissa Leo. She seeks a surprise nod for Flight, but has highly praised work on Treme to comfort her if that candidacy falls short.

Other long shots include Jessica Biel and Judi Dench, with the former notably leaving the show 7th Heaven to focus on films and the latter spending plenty of time on TV before becoming an often-nominated and award-winning thespian. They seek attention for Hitchcock and Skyfall, respectively. The real X factor here, though, has to be Kerry Washington. She’s received good buzz for Django Unchained, and as much as she’s likely to get attention for that film, she’s also gotten plenty of praise for her small-screen work on Scandal.

SCANDAL Pace (S2 Spoilers): TV Line’s Michael Ausiello has the scoop on the upcoming FLASHBACK episode

November 15, 2012 — Series creator/executive producer, Shonda Rhimes referenced that there may be another flashback this season during the PaleyFest 2012 Scandal panel discussion back in September. This week’s ‘Ask Ausiello’ offers an update on when GLADIATORS can expect to see the next highly anticipated flashback episode. Click here for the complete article.

Question: Please give me some Scandal spoilers, particularly of the Olivia/FItz variety! I love them. —Nicole.

Ausiello: If you loved the Season 1 flashback episode that showed us how those two crazy kids met, you won’t want to miss the 11th episode of Season 2. Once again, the show will travel back in time, but a bit further down the campaign trail. There, it becomes clear what, exactly, stands between Grant and the White House. (Hint: Obama can relate.) And the reason for this flashback? Let’s just say that it ties into the Quinnspiracy and that “defiance” word that oil tycoon Hollis Doyle has been lobbing around.
