SCANDAL Pace (Breaking News): Scandal Receives Full-Season Order & 9 Additional Episodes

October 29, 2012 — ABC’s political drama, Scandal, received a full-season order from the network earlier today. Originally the sophomore season of the series, starring Kerry Washington, was granted a shortened season of 13 episodes with the possibility of more if the show continued to be successful.  Scandal is averaging 8.1 million viewers and a 2.5 in adults 18-49, plus a hearty 45 percent DVR boost according to EW.com.  Season two will now feature nine additional episodes for a total of 22 episodes.

Series creator and executive producer, Shonda Rhimes, told The Hollywood Reporter “that the second-year drama will start out with a season-long arc and potentially two should the series expand from its initial order for 13 episodes.

“We want to keep telling stories in that manner and because we’re doing 13 episodes and if we get more than that, we’ll be telling two different season-long arcs,” Rhimes said. “We came back nervous — can we top what we did last season — and now we’re all really excited because we figured out how we can.”

ABC’s Scandal airs Thursdays at 10/9c after Grey’s Anatomy and returns with an all new episode, “All Roads Lead to Fitz” on Thursday, November 8th.

SCANDAL Pace (S2 Spoilers): ‘Scandal’ teasers from EW.com’s Spoiler Room

October 22, 2012 — Entertainment Weekly’s Sandra Gonzalez offers GLADIATORS four teasers in this week’s edition of EW’s Spoiler Room. Click here for the complete article.

SCANDAL’: FOUR TEASES!
You guys, Scandal is on FIRE! The hook up between Abby and David last week? The blow up between Abby and Quinn? The Fitz drama? It’s too much. And by that, I mean it’s perfect and I want more now. Thankfully, the cast (specifically EW’s inside man Josh Malina and cast member Katie Lowes) were nice enough to answer a few questions for us:

+ Will the gang find out about David and Abby? Eventually, I’m sure. And says Lowes, “let’s just say it causes massive conflict in the office if or when it is discovered.”

+ David and Abby = is it a one time thing? My guess? No. But Lowes is a little more coy: “You’ll definitely see in the coming weeks if their relationship is one for immediate pleasure or something deeper.”

+Will David ever get a backstory episode? “I’d definitely be into it,” says Malina. Though, as of now, plans are for David to stay hot on Olivia’s trail (and possibly in a hot frenemies with benefits situation with Abby). And Malina doesn’t see David being thrown off his path by anyone or anything. “I really think [David]’s one of the few characters with clean hands. I think in the ‘My white hat is bigger than your white hat,’ I think he’s winning. Olivia’s white hat is at least 50 shades of grey. David so far is the one who can basically say my hands are clean.”

+ Is David in danger now that he’s figuring things out? Definitely, I say. But Malina has a somewhat less panicked reaction. “I think any time you go up against Olivia your character is in some sort of danger [but] don’t know if it’s mortal. She’s a very difficult person to get ahead of, and so I think it’s dangerous to take her on.”

ABC’s Scandal airs this Thursday at 10/9c with an all new episode, “Beltway Unbuckled”. Be sure to check your local listings.

SCANDAL Pace (News): Bellamy Young’s new suspense-thriller movie “The Cottage” now available on DVD

October 15, 2012 — Scandal’s Bellamy Young (Mellie Grant) can be seen in Entertainment One and Visualeyes Productions’ new suspense-thriller, “The Cottage” starring David Arquette (Never Been Kissed, Eight Legged Freaks, Scream), Kristen Dalton (upcoming Jack Reacher, The Departed, “Dexter”, “The Dead Zone”), and Victor Brown (TV’s “One Life to Live,” Closure).

In this chilling suspense-thriller, a financially struggling couple with a new baby girl needs to rent out the cottage behind their house to make ends meet. When a prospective tenant has a sudden accident and is unable to take the place, they decide to rent it to a seemingly charming novelist, only to find out he’s not who he says he is. In addition to Young, the film also stars Ken Baumann (TV’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), sisters Morissa and Alana O’Mara (Hanna’s Gold, Machine Head), Lorraine Nicholson (Soul Surfer, Click).

The Cottage was directed by Chris Jaymes and written by Nick Antosca. It was produced by Kristen Dalton and Bettina O’Mara.

Synopsis (courtesy of DreadCentral.com)
Chloe (Dalton) and Michael Carpenter (Brown), a struggling suburban couple, have no idea what they’re in for when they rent out the cottage behind their house to a quiet, charming romance novelist named Robert Mars (Arquette). It appears that Mr. Mars was looking for much more than a place to rent. Chloe begins to suspect he’s not who he says he is, and she soon realizes that she’s in the fight of her life to protect herself and her family.

TVLine reader Leah sneaked a good Q in just under the wire, asking for “news on either Parks and Recreation or Scandal.” And since I just got off the horn with the latter show’s Joshua Malina, this inquiry was irresistible low-hanging fruit. Malina told me that at the close of the next fresh episode, airing Oct. 18, “There’s a big surprise that kind of comes out of nowhere regarding David, one I think fans will enjoy.” Might my theory prove true, that he’s involved with his feisty, nubile assistant Alissa (played by Suite Life‘s Brenda Song)? Malina wouldn’t confirm or deny, but instead deadpanned: “One hopes and believes that she could do better.”

ABC’s Scandal returns this Thursday, October 18th at 10/9c with episode 203, “Hunting Season”. Be sure to check your local listings.
