Character Bio (courtesy of ABC.com)
Millicent Grant is the beloved First Lady of the United States of America. But beneath that saccharine smile is an iron-hard will and indomitable political savvy. Nothing gets past this First Lady. Nothing. Any attempts at dismissiveness or subterfuge on behalf of her husband or his Chief of Staff invariably leads to a sharp reminder that they’re not the only ones holding power in this town.
Additional Character Bio (written by abcSCANDALfans)
Bellamy Young stars as First Lady of the United States, Mellie Grant – wife of President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant (Tony Goldwyn). #Olitz shippers may not be her biggest fans, but GLADIATORS love her for the fierceness she brings to each episode! – AND she ROCKS cause she’s North Carolina born and bred! “Carolina Girls ~ Best in the World”! (I’m not bias at all)

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Bellamy Young (formerly Amy Young) earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University where she double-majored in English & Theatre Studies. In addition to her undergraduate work at Yale, she also spent a semester studying at Oxford University in England.
After moving to New York, Young starred on Broadway in Cy Coleman’s The Life (Mary) and in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along (Meg).

Having spent more than a decade performing on stage, Young began doing films. Prior to moving to Los Angeles to exclusively work in television and film, Young legally changed her name from Amy Young to Bellamy Young in order to join the Screen Actors Guild (at that time there was already an Amy Young registered).
On the big screen Young starred in We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, Madeleine Stowe and Greg Kinnear and in The Simple Things starring Cameron Bancroft and Aidan Mitchell. She also played alongside Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames and Keri Russell in Mission Impossible: III.
On television, Young’s credits are extensive and include recurring roles in Dirty Sexy Money (Ellen Darling), Grey’s Anatomy (Kathy), CSI: Miami (Attorney Monica West) and Scrubs (Dr. Miller). Most recently Young starred as Beth Clemmons in the CBS drama Criminal Minds.
Other TV credits include the soap opera Another World, Law & Order, ER, American Dreams, NCIS, Private Practice, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva and Castle.
Young’s upcoming film projects include The Cottage starring David Arquette and Kristen Dalton and the sci-fi thriller Last Day on Earth, also with Kristen Dalton and Justin Deeley. Both titles are currently scheduled for release later in 2012.
